Details of Belaku Event

Hi Angels,

With your help and support we had our first grant a wish event in Belaku Shishunivasa on 9th January,Saturday. The event was a grand success . If you couldn't come to the event below is the detailed log of the event.

The day stated very hectic for both me and Rekha. While Rekha was busy doing some last minute shopping , I spent the morning by giftwrapping the items. Anita and Sraddhanjali helped a lot in gift warpping. Sraddhanjali made these amazing cute pink bows to stick on the gifts .  They looked so pretty :).

We had ordered 3 Kg yummy black forest from Sweet Chariot. Picking up McDonalds burgers was the hardest thing to do. Forum mall was so crowded it took me almost an hour to get out from there. I was trying hard to make it on time but thanks to my amazing sense of direction l got lost in the great labyrinth of Jayanagar(Even though I had been there twice earlier), and Rekha had to come and rescue me :D. Anyway as soon as we reached the Sishunivasa and saw the children eagerly waiting for us, I knew every bit of the pain we took was worth it. I had never seen such well behaved and well maintained children in my life before. They were smart yet so humble and polite.

We started with some chit chat, getting to know the children better. Raghu Sir, who is one of the trustees explained about what they try to do in Belaku Shishunivasa. They take care of the children to get them good education and placement. Once they find a job they move out of the Shishuniavasa. They already have two success stories . After the brief introduction about the organization , the children introduced themselves to the Angels who joined us that day and thanked them for their generous gesture ,they also conveyed their sincere thanks to those who couldn't make it to the event.

We were all getting hungry by then so it was time to attack the food. All the children together cut the cake and we served them the food. They prayed before having food. They also thanked the angels who have sponsored the food.It was a very touchy moment for me personally. They thank for each grain of food they get. It was a great satisfaction to see the way they relished the cake, mcdonald's burgers, veg pulao and curd rice. For many of them it was the first time they had ever tasted a burger. It was a very nice experience.

After the food we started the gifting event. We called out each child and told them who has sponsored for their gift. We also gave out the office supplies and medicines for oldage home and mentioned the names of the angels who have provided them. Some of the children danced and sang as we handed out the chocolates given out by one of our angels. At last the children surprised us by giving handwritten "Thank You" notes for each of the angels. We will be sending those out to you soon.

Over all it was a an experience I cannot express through words. The smile on each their faces was priceless. I cannot thank you all enough for making it happen. Thanks so much!
